Love 'N Care's baby nurses, doulas, lactation consultants, and
other caregivers come to your home with one objective: To meet your
needs. We want your experience to be one of joy and special moments
instead of stress and sleepless nights. Our Doulas and Nurses do not
provide medical care, but they are trained to recognize potential
health problems in mothers and babies and to advise new parents
about calling the physician or pediatrician. All Doulas, Infant, and
Child Care providers referred by Love 'N Care® have passed a written
exam and have solid, verifiable references. Most are mothers or
grandmothers themselves.
A Doula is an experienced woman who is skilled
in caring for women and their families in the antepartum or
postpartum periods. She provides moral, physical, educational and emotional support at
a time when women need "mothering." The mother is the primary focus
of the doula. She is trained in newborn assessment, mother/baby
care, breast and/or bottle feeding assistance, breast pump
instruction, and sibling care. She provides loving support during an
emotional and exhausting time. She is instrumental in making the
transition from individual to parent.
A Baby Nurse is a Professional RN, LPN or an
experienced woman who is skilled in caring for newborns. She
provides moral, physical, educational and emotional support for the
new mom. The newborn is the primary focus. A baby nurse is trained
in newborn assessment, baby care, breast and/or bottle feeding
assistance. She provides loving support during an emotional and
exhausting time.
The presence of a skilled Doula or Baby Nurse can provide
immeasurable benefits including increased confidence, rest for the
new mother, reduced postpartum depression, more successful
breastfeeding, time for family bonding, and reduced recovery
time.
